HÅKON JARL at Bonapartedok, Antwerp - On Deck & Close-Up
Geolocation
Sep 21, 2008

On the decks & alongside HÅKON JARL at Bonapartedok, Antwerp, the oldest Hurtigrute vessel in existence [as at Sept 2008], now 'Floatel Diamond Princess' http://www.diamondprincess.be & 'On Deck' Summer Lounge http://www.ondeckantwerp.com/ at St. Laureiskaai, Bonapartedok, Antwerpen.
Built 1951/2 she entered service on 26 February 1952 - 2173gt 15.5kts 500 Passengers.

A once lovely vessel, she is now grotesque. She appeared somewhat rundown & there was no evidence of the functioning hotel, but there are reviews around the net as recent as 4 Sept, 2008, commenting on her being dirty. Perhaps she has now closed? The doors were locked; however we were able to wander her upper decks & step inside the wheelhouse.
