La Coruña is the 2nd largest city in Galicia, NW Spain [after Vigo]. A busy port built on a promontory, bustling town, famous for its seafood restaurants, lovely beaches with plenty of Museums and sights to keep one busy, including Torre de Hércules, built by the Romans as a navigation beacon in the 2nd century A.D. - the oldest lighthouse in the world, which is still in use. During the summer months a tram runs around the coast and the main sites, but with no tram and having visited before we just wandered about the central area.

Aeropuerto Tenerife Norte Tenerife North Airport is less well known these days [after the major incident in 1977] & a lot less used by foreign travellers. Most non-Spanish tourists now arrive at Tenerife South Airport. The new inter-island flight hall has transformed this airport into the Canary Islands main inter island & internal domestic flight [eg from Alicante, Barcelona, Bilbao etc] hub. A lovely airport, open and airy with plants and flower beds tended on the apron. Islas Airways, Binter Canarias, Spanair, Swift Air, Air Europa & Thomsonfly aircraft. Fred. Olsen arranged/provided all free drinks, including wine, and a very nice hot meal. [Tomato & Mushroom Pasta, Chicken Pomodoro, Apple Glazed caramel with Custard, cheese and biscuits and a Rosemary Focaccio Roll & butter].
